To Spray or not to spray...that is the question?

The orange pumpkin look that the lovely Anne Hathaway is sporting in the movie Bride Wars is the stuff of nightmares for any bride in the lead up to their special day.

Though this is a fictional character, you would be surprised by the number of brides that have actually experienced this situation first hand.

Your wedding day is one of the most important days in your life, so why would you contemplate taking the risk of having your very FIRST spray tan on the eve of your wedding?

How would you feel, after going to all that effort to look your best for your big day only to have your skin spoilt by ugly brown patches, or even worse, like a bali holiday gone wrong.

The fact is, spray tanning is a cosmetic application and like any cosmetic application you need to make sure that it is compatible with your skin type.

Secondly and just as importantly, you want to be assured that the application doesn’t come off, leaving unsightly stains on your beautiful dress.

That is why Hollywood Brides was the first wedding provider to introduce upper body airbrushing to the Queensland Bridal market, offering brides a higher quality alternative that doesn't react with the skin, ensuring a perfect glow every time. It also has the added benefit of adhering to your skin, not your dress.

Cost wise, upper body airbrushing is equivalent to receiving a spray tan, but in my expert opinion, provides you with a far more natural and healthier glow.

Rebecca, a member of the Hollywood Brides Creative Team has been a spray tanning technician and trainer for over eight years and here is what she said:

“I love the look of a professional spray tan for special events and everyday wear, however, when it comes to a wedding I have seen that many tanning disasters that it would make your skin crawl.”

“It is too an important occasion to risk looking like you have rolled in a packet of twisties.

"If you must get a spray tan here are my recommendations:

1. Have a trial run! Especially if you’ve never had a spray tan before. This way you will see how your skin reacts to the solution.

It is a good idea to exfoliate your face and body prior to the application and make sure you do not wear any deodorant, moisturiser or makeup to your appointment.

For your wedding day spray tan, go back to the same person and ensure they use the same product. I reccommend applying your spray tan two days prior to your big day.

2. Ensure your technician takes special care of your hands and feet. They will also be on show on your special day, including photos, so applying barrier cream to these areas is a must.

3. Go organic. There are some great organic sprays on the market which means less chemicals and nasties and no alcohol. Many organic products can also double as a treatment for your skin.

4. Learn how to take care of your tan afterwards, by applying tan extending and moisturising products.

You will be able to maintain your perfect tan for longer, lasting well past your wedding night."
