10 May 2009 - The Economy and your Wedding - by Wedding Bootcamp
The state of the economy and the uncertainty surrounding job stability is causing many of us to re-think our spending habits, and today’s brides and grooms are no different. Weddings have a reputation for being expensive, budget blowing events, and many couples and their families are concerned about being able to afford - ‘The Dream Wedding’.
Savvy Brides and Grooms deal with this issue head on by setting their budget early. In fact, the tuned in bride and groom make this their first step when it comes to planning.
Setting your budget may not sound romantic, but it is the essential element that will guide you in all of your future decisions. It is also important to consider all of the elements of your wedding; from the dress to the cars, photographers, reception, flowers, honeymoon, music, etc. and determine which are the most important to you.
Where do you want to allocate the most money and where do you feel you can make some compromises? Depending on your relationship with your family and their involvement in your wedding you may also wish to discuss this with them.
Once you have your priorities set you can begin researching your options and obtaining quotes so that you can allocate your budget accordingly.
Ok, I know talk about budgeting and economic downturns are not really what you want to be thinking about when it comes to your wedding, but having a budget and a plan to work to, makes the whole process of planning your wedding much less stressful and are actually tools you can utilise for helping you achieve your ‘Dream Wedding’.
And don’t despair; if your budget is restricted…just get creative. The most lavish and expensive weddings are not always the most beautiful or memorable, in fact they can be the opposite if they do not contain personal elements which truly reflect the personalities of the bride and groom. A Savvy Bride and Groom incorporate personalized and thoughtful elements into their day and often these are the simplest, least expensive things.
