Wedding Hair and Beauty Tips

Every bride dreams of looking her best on her wedding day, that is why we have carefully put together these free tips to assist you in your preparations. Remember, it is important to start as early as possible and to stick to your beauty treatment plan.

Facials and Treatments

The key to a truly glowing wedding day look is to undertake a series of facials and other beauty treatments leading up to your wedding day. At the very minimum you should be cleansing, toning and moisturizing your face on a daily basis to keep your skin in excellent condition. You should also look at having your eyebrows shaped and lashes tinted about four days prior to your wedding day.

Wedding Hair and Make Up

To keep your hair looking great all the way up to your wedding day, regular trims and deep conditioning treatments are advisable. One of our stylists can recommend quality products that will suit your hair and lifestyle, while working with you to develop a cut and style that accentuates your natural beauty.

Even if you normally wear little or no make-up, it is important to wear some on your wedding day. This ensures you don’t end up looking ‘washed out’ in your photos. Most brides prefer the natural look using soft colours that complement their skin tone, giving them a magical glow all day long. That’s not to say that a heavier look like a smoky eye doesn’t achieve the same outcome!

We recommend that you and your bridal party participate in a wedding hair and make-up trial prior to your wedding day, to ensure everything is perfect for the big event. Please bring along any photos of wedding make-up and hair styles, head pieces, veil or hats that you plan to wear on the day.

Wedding Day Essentials

To keep yourself looking your best on the day itself, it is a good idea to give your head bridesmaid a small bag to hold your essentials. This should include a translucent powder compact, blush or bronzer, lipstick, perfume, an extra pair of pantihose and a nail repair kit.

Waxing

To give your skin enough time to settle down (should you have a reaction), werecommend that you have all your waxing completed at about 4 days prior to your wedding.

Hydration

It is important to drink plenty of water (about 2 litres a day). This will help hydrate your skin (giving you a natural glow), flush out any toxins, make you feel full and accelerate your metabolism.

Important things to remember

Put your deodorant, perfume, talc, powders, body lotions or hand creams on long before you put on your dress. This will give them time to be absorbed into your skin, so they do not rub off onto your dress. For that little extra extravagance, you might like to layer your scents.

As your hands will also be seen in photographs, we recommend that you choose a clear or French polish. Manicures, acrylic nails and pedicures should be done the day before the wedding, to ensure there are no breakages and less chance of chipping your polish.
